Cosmetic Surgery has taken shape of a well organized industry today in all major developed countries. Advertisements from different medical clinics can be commonly seen in different forms of media. Marketing pundits are drafting strategies on how to bring in more and more business for their clients. Going to that exotic holiday and returning back with that 'perfect cup size' is not a dream anymore. The thought of getting that perfect look simply is so irresistible anyone would be willing to try these surgeries. People don't consider cosmetic surgeries a 'big deal' anymore and often undermine its complexity.
However there is another side of this dream world. There are many intuitions and doctors around the world who are raising their concerns on attempting to making cosmetic surgery just a 'over the counter' product which anyone can use. Many horror stories are regularly printed in magazines and newspapers that highlight seriousness and importance of investigating on choosing your plastic surgeon to fully ensure that you are in safe hands. They also highlight the fact that these surgeries are not risk free and things could go terribly wrong if precautions are overlooked.
Hollywood personalities and have huge fan following and often are considered as their role model by millions around the world. When people come to know that the secret behind that perfect look of your role model is a cosmetic surgery, they would just blindly try and follow on their footsteps. The most convinced lot seems to be the 'Teenagers'. What is more dangerous is that teenagers have begun to think that if your body doesn't fit in that perfect picture, then cosmetic surgery is just around the corner to help them. Cosmetic Surgery is perceived as a necessity rather then just as an option with an increasing trend among teenagers willing to go under the knife.
There have been many surveys those have highlighted some astonishing findings which prove that a growing trend among teenagers perceiving cosmetic surgery as a necessity more than anything else. Teenage boys are of the opinion that all women's breast should point outwards and upwards, if they don't, it is considered an abnormality. On the other hand young girls think anything below cup size D is something un-natural. And readymade solution to all this is a cosmetic surgery. The definition of perfection and imperfection has been changed within this stratum of our society.
It is high time we should start educating youngsters regarding both pros and cons of plastic surgery and when & why one should actually consider it. They need to be guided on the right track so that they can judiciously use this option.
More and more teenagers are for cosmetic surgery and I personally don't think it's good. We should wait till 20 at least. I had my first procedure at 35, a breast augmentation by Dr. Jerome Edelstein, which was needed, because my breasts were saggy after giving birth 3 times.
