There are certain trends in plastic surgery that are gaining in popularity all the time. Cellulite reduction is one of those trends, as is the non-surgical reduction of fat. But there are also some rather unusual plastic surgery procedures that are predicted to become more common in the years to come.
There are breast implants, cheek implants and butt implants. But now there are also permanent lip implants. Many women and men want to have fuller lips that have volume and are sexier. Traditionally this has come about by way of temporary injectable fillers such as Juvaderm and Restylane. When done by a skilled plastic surgeon, the results are very successful, but they are not long lasting. Most fillers start at around $700, so over time and with repeated visits, the cost can inch its way up.
An alternative to temporary fillers for the lips is a plastic surgery procedure called permanent lip implants. Called PermaLip, this procedure involves the insertion of implants that are permanent in nature and are fashioned from a soft silicone material. Each implant costs $1800. This procedure is safe and the demand for it is growing. Not all plastic surgeons are experienced with the lip implant procedure yet though because it is so new.
Earlobes age over time just as other parts of the body do. If your earlobes have taken on a thin, long and/or sagging appearance due to wearing heavy pierced earrings over the years or simply due to the passage of time, then earlobe rejuvenation is a new trend in plastic surgery that might appeal to you. In this case the earlobes are plumped up with fillers, while in other cases the surgeon determines that the best course of treatment for the patient is to remove some of the excess skin on the earlobe in a simple procedure that takes place in the surgeon's office. This is a procedure that is not nearly as expensive as many of the more complex forms of plastic surgery.
Adjustable breast implants are another new trend that is really gaining steam. The number one reason that breast augmentation patients choose to be operated on again is because they want a different size for their implants. Some women have breast asymmetry as well, which means that their implant sizes are different. The solution to this is post-operative adjustable saline implants. This new development in the world of plastics makes it possible for a doctor to change the implant size by way of a small access port that is located beneath the skin. It is not meant to increase or decrease the size of the breast due to day-to-day preferences but to give the patient the time to decide if the volume of the implants is what they want.
