Some would say there is no limit to the price they would pay for perfection, and this is no more readily apparent than in the field of cosmetic surgery. People will pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for surgeries that will reduce their weight or turn back time on the wrinkles and imperfections of age. While spider veins are included in these cosmetic procedures, the ease by which they can be treated luckily involves a price that is not so drastic. Treatments for spider veins involve laser procedures, sclerotherapy and surgery depending on the size and location of the vein to be treated.
Laser removal and sclerotherapy cost are generally around the same amount. The price is difficult to discern for several reasons. In procedures such as laser treatment, the cost is generally calculated per session. Often patients will undergo a series of sessions for treatment, and it is difficult to be able determine by yourself how many treatments you will need as well as the extent of each sessions. Similarly, sclerotherapy cost is dependent on the extent of the area being treated.
Another factor in determining the cost of these procedures is the means by which you choose to have them done. Because of the rampant popularity and ease of spider vein removal, often times it is possible to have the procedure done by a technician or specialist instead of a doctor. The sessions are quite short, and can be done in a spa or clinic in which several other cosmetic procedures are available. These locations tend to offer prices that are less than a doctor's office, in which a doctor would perform the treatment indicated.
A licensed surgeon is required to perform spider vein surgery, however, and the cost is much greater than sclerotherapy or laser treatment. The surgery is recommended for people who suffer from very large and difficult varicose veins, and is undergone only in severe cases of varicose veins.
While varicose vein surgery generally costs around 2,000 dollars, sclerotherapy cost is generally between 100-300 dollars per sessions. Laser treatments are within the same range. Extensive laser or sclerotherapy treatments can cost in the thousands of dollars, however, and the cost is entirely dependent on each individual case. Sclerotherapy may be a better option over laser treatment if you require a lesser amount of sclerotherapy sessions than laser treatment to remove the veins that are problematic. If you are considering sclerotherapy, talk to your doctor about what results you are aiming for.
