How Much Plastic Surgery Do Models Have?

Models, in general, have always been the most forthcoming about their appearances, and about the plastic surgery procedures they have or have not undergone. Perhaps this is because most people already suspect that most models have had plastic surgeries, so there is no use in keeping the secret in such an open environment. And most models are not ashamed of the procedures they have undergone, accepting them as simply part of the occupation. For this reason, plastic surgery among models is probably more widespread than among many other groups, though there are exceptions.

Why Models Choose Plastic Surgery

Models choose to have plastic surgery procedures for the simple reason that they are called upon to be perfect in both face and body, and plastic surgery is the only sure way to accomplish that. Models, whether they work in print or on the runway, are put under a tremendous amount of pressure to look a certain way, or to have a certain body type. Those who do not have a certain "look," or who have issues with their bodies are at a disadvantage. If they want to be successful in modeling, they are willing to do whatever it takes to correct those problems to get jobs.

Body Procedures

Models choose to have plastic surgery procedures on the body probably more commonly than anything else. This is simply because of how many body procedures there are, and how drastically each can change the appearance. Many models, especially those who work in print or who are bikini models, choose to have breast augmentation procedures. Others choose liposuction, tummy tucks or butt lifts. Body contouring, the actual reshaping of the body, is becoming increasingly popular because it can help achieve a certain body type that a model may not already have.

Facial Procedures

Facial procedures are common among models who work in print more so than models who work in runway shows. Print models are always in front of the camera, and photographs are quick to highlight features that are imperfect, or throw off the appearance of the face. Rhinoplasty, or nose jobs, are probably the most common of all the facial procedures, as most models want a uniform nose appearance that will not be highlighted in photos. Lip augmentation and chin implants are also popular because of their ability to balance the appearance of the face.

Aging Models

Models begin to lean on plastic surgery more and more as they begin to age, and their bodies and faces begin to show signs of that age. More body procedures are common to mitigate the effects of time, and facial procedures begin to target the first signs of wrinkles. Botox and face lifts seem to be routine for models over a certain age who want to continue working.
