Let's face it, not everyone is born with a picture perfect smile. Even if your smile isn't all that bad compared to many people's teeth, basic dental cosmetic procedures can help make you look more attractive, younger, and healthier. To make things even better, many of these cosmetic procedures are inexpensive, painless, and easily taken care of by a qualified dentist at a local facility. Almost everyone is born with at least one small imperfection that is stopping them from having an absolutely beautiful smile. If that small imperfection is distracting from the beauty of the rest of your teeth, it's amazing what clearing up that small distraction can do. When there's nothing negative to focus on, all people are left to look at is a beautiful, dazzling smile!
There is a wide range of dental issues that cosmetic dentistry can correct. One of the most common problems is teeth that are chipped, cracked, or misshapen in some way. Cracks can easily be filled in with color-matching product (like the modern way of filling a cavity). Teeth can also be easily reshaped and reworked until they are smooth and uniform. Jagged edges can be worked down with a file (this sounds painful, but it doesn't feel any different than having your teeth brushed).
One of the most common dental cosmetic procedures is having your teeth straightened. This is often done to children using braces, but when you are an adult, braces are a little awkward and look a little funny on your teeth. This is where products such as Invisalign come in. These are clear plastic retainers custom fitted to your teeth, and they snap into place right over your own teeth. Once they are on, they're almost entirely invisible to the naked eye, and apply pressure to the right teeth in the right direction to move them where they need to be. These are generally worn for several months, and you will change to a new set of aligners once every couple of weeks to keep them moving along. You wear them all the time, except for when you eat. Otherwise, they never come out of your mouth, so that they are constantly manipulated your teeth in the right direction.
