Can Sagging Eyelids Be Remedied Only By Means of Cosmetic Procedures Like Eyelift Surgery?

While I would really like to say no, sagging eyelids can be dealt with effectively without ever having to go under the knife, it is not quite as clear cut as that. With that having been said, the vast majority of people with sagging facial skin can avoid surgery. In most cases, sagging skin is an inevitable part of the natural aging process we all have to go through, but for some, age has nothing to do with the fact that their eyelids are sagging. It is these people who, I am afraid to say, might well have to rely on the skill of a cosmetic surgeon.

Although relatively rare, one's eyelids can begin sagging at any age due to a condition known as ptosis. This can cause either one (unilateral ptosis) or both eyelids (bilateral ptosis) to begin sagging. The condition can be present from the time of birth, or it can develop during any stage of one's life. For the most part, it is caused by problems concerning the skin, eyelid muscles, and of course, also the relevant connective tissues. In very rare cases, it can also be caused by the growth of a tumor or tumors, either in the brain, or in an area which is in close proximity to the eyes. However, as I have already mentioned, tumors are very rarely to blame. Other possible causes include:

* Venom from a Spitting Cobra

* Third cranial nerve palsy

* Severe trauma

* Nerve damage

* Bacterial infection

Droopy Eyelids and the Aging Process

As with other areas of the body, the skin around a person's eyes, including their eyelids, will at some point begin to show signs of aging. Exactly when this begins depends of several things, but is largely determined by the sort of lifestyle a person has led. If they have spent most of their life eating an unhealthy diet, and they have been neglecting their body in general, signs of aging will usually begin to appear as they reach their mid thirties or early forties, particularly if they have routinely spent a great deal of time in the sun.

Skin care products can also speed up the aging process, and in fact, they are often the cause of premature aging, including sagging eyelids. A few decades from now, I am sure we will notice a significant reduction in premature aging, since people these days are exercising a lot more caution with regards to what they put on their skin. People are increasingly turning to natural skin care solutions, as opposed to using all the regular brand name products people have relied on for countless years.

The sad truth is that in the past, people believed they could prevent wrinkles by simply using the skin care products that were being advertized at the time, but because most of those products include several different chemicals, people were unintentionally laying the foundation for premature aging.

The skin around a person's eyes is particularly delicate, which is why extra care must be taken when dealing with sagging eyelids. Ideally, you shouldn't use a chemical based product on any area of the body, and most definitely not on the delicate skin around the eyes. There are a number of natural eye serums on the market nowadays, but of course not all of them are equally as good. One ingredient you might want to look for however happens to be grape seed oil, since it's proven itself to be very effective at reducing fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the eyes.
